Day 1//Week 1
A while back my wife asked me if I was free a certain day, I responded, "Maybe, I need to check my calendar."
She waited, and stared at me kinda funny, and then asked, "Wait, you mean a physical paper calendar?"
I laughed and said, "Yeah, I don't have my new work calendar anywhere digitally, so I can't tell you unless I'm sitting in my office."
We both laughed, because it seems in this world that EVERYTHING can be done on demand. You don't have to go somewhere special to have access.
Did you know, in the Old Testament (the first half of the Bible) God literally lived and dwelled in a place called the Holy of Holies. And nobody, but the High Priest, could enter into the Holy of Holies to talk with him.
But since Jesus came, died on the cross, and bore our sin and shame, it says in Matthew 27:51 "At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom."
TRANSLATION: We can talk to God anytime we want!
There's nothing magical or special about what you need or have to say.
And you can put your trust in him right where you're reading this resource.
- You don't need to be at church
- You don't need a priest
- You don't need to say anything special
2 Corinthians 5:17 says "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come!"
And the Bible also tells us, that all it takes to be "In Christ" is "Declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved!" (Romans 10:9)
- Do you believe that God raised Jesus from the dead?
- Are you ready (or have you already) to declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord?
If you answered yes to those two questions, then you're ready to be saved!
Here is an example of what that prayer may look like.
If the words below are a true indication of what is going on in your heart, then read it and say it to God:
Dear God,
I know that my sins have separated me from you and broken my relationship with you. And unfortunately, I cannot fix that on my own. But I believe Jesus can, and right now I believe that Jesus died in my place, he rose from the dead, and I trust in him to forgive me for my sins. Through faith in Him, I am entering a relationship with you starting now. Thank you for this free gift!
