Day 4//Week 3: The Cause

How can I let people know?

Day 4//Week 3

You and I live in a Cause-centric world

  • Save the Whales!
  • Go Green!
  • End Sex Trafficking!

Causes are great! I mean, none of the things mentioned above are evil, but here is the reality, there is one Cause, that rises above all the others. One cause that

  • 100
  • 500
  • 2,000

years from now will still matter.

The Cause of Christ

Which is to make disciples, who make disciples.

Matthew 28:18-20 All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me, therefore go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I've commanded you, surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (NIV)

If I were to ask you to find the action verb in the above verse, you'd most likely choose "go."

And in English you'd be right! But in the original language, this passage is better translated

"As you are going" so the word "go" isn't really the action verb, the verb is "make."

So what is Jesus' final command to his disciples?

Make Disciples

That is the ultimate cause of Christ.

Just like you have now entered into God's family, Jesus has commanded you to bring more people into God's family as well!

My 3

God hasn't just placed you...

  • At the school
  • On the team
  • In the neighborhood

you're in randomly. He has strategically placed you in a position to influence others for Christ.

It is your job, as a disciple, to build redemptive relationship with your peers.

So why don't you let us know 3 friends you're going to be praying for and trying to show the love of Jesus:
